Blue Ridge Day Hiker Bringing the Mountains to You!

Guided Hikes

YOU CAN SPEND A LAZY DAY BY A WATERFALL, OR TAKE AN
ALL DAY EXCURSION HIKING OVER BALDS TO SHINING ROCK- A
BEAUTIFUL QUARTZ OUTCROPPING NEAR COLD MOUNTAIN--OR
ANYTHING IN BETWEEN.

OUR HIKES VARY FROM EASY TO DIFFICULT, AND WE WILL FIND ONE (OR TWO!),
THAT WILL MEET YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS. HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES:

SCHOOLHOUSE FALLS

THIS ALL DAY HIKE IS IN THE NANTAHALA NATIONAL FOREST IN THE VERY UNIQUE AND
BIOLOGICALLY DIVERSE PANTHERTOWN VALLEY. THE STREAMS IN THIS VALLEY SPARKLE DUE TO THE TANNINS IN THE WATER.   SCHOOLHOUSE FALLS ITSELF IS UNDERCUT AND YOU CAN STAND BEHIND THE FALLS AND REMAIN VIRTUALLY DRY.
A PERSONAL FAVORITE.

COVE CREEK FALLS

THIS HIKE IS MUCH EASIER AND THE
WATERFALL IS QUITE MAJESTIC, A NICE PLACE FOR A LONG
LUNCH.

  FLAT LAUREL CREEK CASCADES

THIS IS ANOTHER ALL DAY HIKE THAT ISN'T ALL THAT STRENUOUS, BUT PROVIDES FANTASTIC VISTAS, A SMALL WATERFALL AND MILES OF CASCADING STREAM. VIEWS OF SAM'S KNOB, BALSAM DOME, & THE DEVIL'S COURTHOUSE ALL SET IN THE SAME UNIQUE AREA AS GRAVEYARD FIELDS, BUT WITHOUT THE CROWDS.

    TWIN FALLS

TWIN FALLS IS A GREAT HIKE IN LUSH FOREST.  THIS IS A NICE HIKE BECAUSE WHILE IT IS 4.4 MILES ROUND TRIP, THERE IS VERY LITTLE ELEVATION GAIN.  THE PHOTO DEPICTS ONE OF A PAIR OF WATERFALLS.  THE TWO ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS APART AND STEM FROM TWO DIFFERENT STREAMS.

Custom Guided Hikes Custom hikes are tailored to suit individual activity levels. Groups are kept small to enhance discussions at scenic rest stops along the trail.  Knapsack lunches and group rates are available.

 Why hike with a guide?

Two simple reasons:  Getting lost and crowds.  We all have enough stress in our lives; why get lost trying to find a trailhead or while on the trail.  The best hiking opportunities in this area are not easily accessible.   Hike with us and you will not have to worry about making a wrong turn--besides, half the fun is enjoying the spectacular scenery along the way--not trying to decipher a cryptical map.  Many of the trails in the region are not well marked, and there are multiple unofficial trails that can be quite misleading.  It's very easy to lose an entire day going down the wrong road or taking a well-worn path that goes nowhere!

There are a few popular spots along the Blue Ridge Parkway that are over-used and crowded most of the time.  While it's rare not to see another person on a particular trail; I guarantee our destinations will not be your average tourist stop with throngs of people.  Maximize your time while visiting this wonderful area, we'll pick you up and you simply spend the day enjoying the mountains the way they should be experienced:  On the other side of the windshield, away from the crowds and on the right trail!

For all hikes, please bring cameras, layered clothing, good hiking boots or shoes (do NOT bring new shoes or boots--make sure they are thoroughly broken in), and a love for adventure!

You may also want to bring:  Raingear if you have it--ponchos will be provided.  Insect repellant, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and walking poles

HIKES INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION, WATER AND SNACKS OR A
MEAL, GIVEN THE TRIP LENGTH.
